“Tuticorin Port takes all safety measures to avoid accidents”

Tuticorin: Safety flag was unfurled during the 39th safety week celebrations inaugurated by the Chairman of Tuticorin Port Trust, G. J. Rao, in the presence of Deputy Chairman, A. Subbiah on the Port Trust premises on Monday.

In his presidential address, Mr. Rao informed that the Port was taking precautionary steps, which are necessary to avoid accidents.

Meanwhile, he assured that the TPT would extend its contribution for providing all necessary safety equipments for the dock workers.

Further, he also requested all employees to adhere to the safety norms while at work.

At the outset Mr. Rao also greeted the women employees on the occasion of the International Women's Day.

Earlier, the officers, employees of TPT and Cargo Handling Labour Pool, Port Users, Trustees of TPT, PSA Sical took part in the procession highlighting the safety standards.

The procession commenced at the Blue Gate of the harbour and concluded at the multi purpose shed. The Assistant Director, (Dock Safety) Labour Trustees, the Presidents and Secretaries of Tuticorin Stevedores' Association, Tuticorin Customs House Agents' Association and Tuticorin Transport and Equipment Owners' Association attended the programme.
