Palayamkottai police are on the look out for persons who attacked three youth at Thimmarajapuram on Thursday night.

Police said M. Vellaipandi ((22), his younger brother M. Hari (18) and a relative C. Mahendran (20), all from Kakkan Nagar in Palayamkottai who were collecting offerings from the public for Sri Muththaramman Temple at Kulasekarapattinam in Tuticorin district dressed up as Kaali, had gone to Thimmarajapuram on Thursday night with a band.

When they sought to offer prayers at Sri Muppidathi Amman Temple, being administered by people from another community, they were attacked by a gang.

Vellaipandi, Hari and Mahendran sustained cut injuries while those who accompanied the trio were thrashed with logs.

Vellaipandi, Hari and Mahendran have been admitted to the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital.

The Palayamkottai police have filed a case in this connection.
