The trial in the case of alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in 2012 was adjourned on Wednesday since the accused was not produced before the Fast Track Mahila Court here. Sessions Judge R. Kamalavathy posted the case to December 10.

Sources said since C. Subbiah of Paraikuttam, Vanchi Maniyachi, who allegedly murdered the 13-year-old girl on December 20, 2012, was produced in a court in Kovilpatti on Wednesday for the trial in another case, he could not be produced before the Fast Track Mahila Court in Tuticorin. Subbiah was arrested by the Seydunganallur police.

The schoolgirl went missing on December 20 and her grandfather P. Muthuperumal (63) lodged a police complaint. The girl was found dead in a bush along the railway track near Thathankulam station on December 21. Investigations revealed that the murder occurred while the victim was walking alone on the railway track near Thathankulam station to board a Nazareth-bound passenger train to go to her school.
