Tirupur: The ‘Fashion Eclat-2010’, a designer contest organised by the Tirupur Kumaran College for Women here on Tuesday, displayed a wide range of trendy designer wear collections developed by the final year students of Department of Costume Design and Fashion for women and children at the college.

The participants, divided into groups named ‘scintillating girls’, ‘daring fashions’, ‘twinkling girls’, ‘tetra pretty girls’, ‘glossy girls’, ‘dazzling girls’, ‘blooming girls’, ‘crony girls’ and ‘mighty girls’, offered stiff competition to each other making the judgment tougher. Interesting aspect of the contest was that students of the college from various departments came forward as models to exhibit the collections of their peers on the ramp.

In the end, ‘scintillating girls’, captained by V. Kanimalar, who had developed designs based on ‘black and white’ theme emerged as overall winner of the event.

J. Jerusha walked away with the Best Designer award and B. Mercy, a first year student of the costume design and fashion department, bagged the ‘Miss Catwalk’ title.
