CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) launched its Chennai city sightseeing tour using the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) rail network on Wednesday at the Chepauk railway station.

A group of 18 tourists from Delhi, who had completed a 10-day tour of South Tamil Nadu, boarded a train at Chepauk to travel up to Thiruvanmiyur.

The new tour was flagged off at the Chepauk station by TTDC chairman Sanwant Ram in the presence of Commissioner of Tourism and TTDC managing director M. Rajaram.

Guiding tourists

The tour, an initiative of the TTDC and Southern Railway, is addition to the coach tour operated by the TTDC.

Under the TTDC-MRTS city sightseeing tour, tourists who will be accompanied by a guide, will be picked up at the Tourism Complex on Wallajah Road and taken by a TTDC coach to the Chepauk railway station.

Then they will travel up to the station at Thiruvanmiyur, where they will be again shifted to a waiting coach to complete the tour.

The tariff for the package tour is Rs.130 for a person irrespective of age.
