“Most of the employees will get a bonus of Rs.8,400”

KARUR: Employees of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation expressed happiness over the announcement of the bonus and festival advance for them by the State Government after holding talks with the unions.

Office-bearers of various associations and unions and a cross section of the employees said here on Wednesday that the announcement of the 20 per cent bonus with a ceiling of Rs.8,400 and grant of a festival advance of Rs.2,000 had brought them joy.

“The announcement one month ahead of Deepavali and the promise to pay the amount in cash 10 days prior to the festival date are welcome.

Most of the employees will be drawing the bonus ceiling amount of Rs.8,400,” Sivaprakasam, Time Keeper with the TNSTC, Tiruchi, here observed.

His colleagues observed that the announcement of 20 per cent bonus and the grant of festival advance were satisfying given the circumstances and the past experiences in receiving bonus and festival advance.

Till about few years back the employees were getting a paltry Rs.2,499 as bonus and no festival advance was granted.

They were really finding it hard to celebrate the festival with the family members. Now there were good tidings and they were all gratified by the timely announcement, they said.

Spirit of employees pepped up

Moreover, the hastening of the process of promotions that were pending for long and creations of new jobs have resulted in pepping up the spirit of the employees who had felt neglected, the employees claimed and successful completion of talks with the trade unions and the announcement of the bonus and festival advance were a sequel to such good tidings, they added.
