MADURAI: Transfer counselling for postgraduate teachers’ vacancies in Government schools was held at the office of Chief Educational Officer here on Thursday.

According to officials, about 50 teachers of various subjects turned up with their transfer applications for the 26 vacancies.

District Chief Educational Officer R. Pandurangan, said that the vacancies arose as PG teachers got promoted as headmasters, and, hence those vacancies were being filled up.

The first-day counselling was for those teachers who sought transfers to schools within Madurai district.

Another round of transfer counselling will be held on Friday for those teachers seeking transfers outside the district.
