Nagercoil: Under Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development (STED) programme, around 300 unemployed youths would be provided training to set up small-scale industries, said the Director of Centre for Social Development of Kanyakumari district, Bhagavatheeswaran.

Delivering the keynote address at Thirupathisaram near Nagercoil, he said that the first batch consisting of 30 youths was given training. The main objective of organising the programme was to enhance the entrepreneurship qualities. The trainers in co-operation with other department officials would provide the training to the youths. National Science and Technology Board under the Department of Science and Technology sponsored the programme.

M. Peer Mohammed, Retired professor, EDP, Department of ST Hindu College, Subbu, president of Thirupathisaram village panchayat, inaugurated the programme.
