Coimbatore: District Forest Officers and Deputy Directors of Tiger Reserves from Tamil Nadu will take part in a one-day training programme being organised at Top Slip on Sunday for the ensuing Synchronised Elephant Census.

The training programme will be presided over by the Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), V.N. Singh. Training programme will begin at 9.30 a.m. and go on till 6 p.m., a release from Field Director of Anaimalai Tiger Reserve, H. Basuvaraju said.

The participants of the training programme would be addressed by Sivaganesan and Baskaran of Asian Nature Conservation Foundation (ANCF), Arumugam of Wildlife Trust of India and Arivazhagan of Care Earth Foundation.

On completion of the training, the participants would in turn impart training to the field staff in the respective jurisdictions for carrying out the elephant census from May 15 to 17 at the South India level, Mr. Basuvaraju added.
