The Vellore District Collector-cum-District Electoral Officer V. Palanikumar has said that the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) will be conducting the State-level training programme for officials in counting of votes polled in the April 13 Assembly elections at Chennai on May 5.

Mr. Palanikumar, who inspected the security arrangements at the counting centre for Arcot, Ranipet, Sholinghur and Arakkonam Assembly constituencies in the Ranipettai Engineering College at Thenkadappanthangal near Walajapet on Monday, said that training for the counting personnel and other arrangements for counting of votes in the three counting centres in Vellore district on May 13 would be carried out based on the instructions to be received from the CEO at the State-level training programme in Chennai.

The Collector asked the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel guarding the counting centre to be careful in handling the machine guns. E. Saravanavelraj, District Revenue Officer, Jegannathan, Sub-Collector, Ranipet, Rajamannar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Crime Records Bureau, K. Shanmugasundaram, Information and Public Relations Officer, Kaliyaperumal, Returning Officer for the Arakkonam constituency and officials of the Public Works Department accompanied the Collector.
