Krishnagiri: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned Rs. 50,000 under the Rural Entrepreneurship Development Programme (REDP) to Surabi, an NGO run by Sacred Hearts College, Tirupathur, to conduct training in mobile phone servicing.

More than 20 self-help group members from Surabi would be trained under the programme, said the Assistant General Manager, NABARD, V. Thirumalai, here on Thursday.

The training programme would cover inputs on entrepreneurship development and management of enterprises such as achievement, motivation, opportunity, identification and guidance, knowledge of supporting organizations and schemes, management of resources, preparation of project reports, market perceptions and assessment of market potential, marketing of products and field visits.

The training will commence in the second week of March at Kandhikuppam near Bargur.

On completion of training, the NGO will provide escort service to the trainees in order to enable them to set up units on their own with financial assistance from banks.

With the country witnessing a boom in cell phone sales, the training provides a huge opportunity in servicing mobile phones, Mr. Thirumalai added.
