DINDIGUL: Four express trains proceeding to Chennai and other destinations from Madurai and southern districts were delayed for few hours as boulders fell on Dindigul-Madurai broad gauge section near Perumalkovilpatti in the early hours of Friday due to torrential showers.

The track was also fractured near Kodai Road. Rainwater flooded the track at several places between Kodai Road and Ambathurai stations disrupting movement of trains.

Pandian Express reached Dindigul Railway Station at 11 p.m., an hour behind the schedule time on Thursday night.

Nellai Express was also stopped near Kodai Road and it reached the Dindigul station at midnight on Thursday. Railway officials broke the boulders and removed soil that fell on the track to streamline train traffic in this section.

Technical personnel from Madurai and Dindigul worked for over 9 hours to resume traffic.
