A couple of engineering snags disrupted the movement of long-distance and suburban electric trains around Tambaram on Monday morning.

A fault on the railway track was noticed by personnel on their morning rounds between Guduvanchery and Kattankulathur railway stations around 4 a.m.. They alerted the signal control room in Tambaram. Chennai Egmore-bound Rockfort Express was halted ahead of Kattankulathur station.

Other long-distance trains tand a few suburban services from Chengalpattu to Tambaram too were stranded.

Staff attended to the fault within an hour and the trains were allowed to travel the stretch at a speed of 10 kilometres per hour after 5 a.m.
