At `Mupperum Vizha' in Pudukottai The public address system campaign was widely welcomed by the residents

PUDUKOTTAI: Honouring traffic police personnel in recognition of their services in ensuring free flow of traffic in the town limits marked the `Mupperum Vizha' organised by the Rotary Club of Pudukottai Central here recently. As many as 22 police personnel four sub-inspectors and 18 constables were honoured on the occasion.

"The traffic police men have been doing yeoman service in regulating the traffic in the busy thoroughfares. They have been creating awareness among the people on the parking of vehicles. The campaign conducted by the traffic police in the public address system has been widely welcomed by the residents of Pudukottai," the citation presented to them said.

Sub-Inspectors S. Janagiram, G. Ravichandran, P. Maraiyan and A. Marimuthu were among the men honoured. The Chairman of the Pudukottai District Panchayat, Muthusamy, presented the awards to them.

The Club conducted road rules awareness contests for various categories of school students and presented awards to the winners. The club also paid the premium for the accident insurance scheme for the benefit of students of the Ashok Nagar panchayat union school, besides donating benches and desks to the school.

The president of the Rotary Club of Pudukottai Central, J. Jai Parthiban, presided over the function, when the headmaster of the school, M. Nagappan, and others offered felicitations.
