SALEM: Traffic on the National Highways 47 was affected for a while near Mahudanchavadi here on Sunday following a dispute between a State Transport Corporation bus driver and a lorry driver. The police rushed to the spot and cleared the traffic.
Earlier on Saturday evening, residents of Mahudanchavadi staged a road roko on the National Highways following death of a person in a road accident. The police said a private bus tried to overtake a lorry when the lorry hit a person killing him on the spot. The deceased was identified as Kalaiventhan (38) of Mahudanchavadi. Following this, the residents blocked the bus demanding its owner pay compensation to the family of the deceased. They also staged a road roko. The traffic was paralysed for about 30 minutes. Revenue officials and the police rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators.
