Traffic on the Sathyamangalam–Coimbatore Main Road was disrupted for nearly two hours after a van dashed against an electricity post, causing it to fall on the road near Punjai Puliyampatti on Monday early morning.

Sources said the van was carrying vegetables to Coimbatore, when it lost control and dashed against the electricity post.

In the impact, the power cables got snapped and the post fell on the road, bringing the traffic to a halt.

Workers from TANGEDCO rushed to the spot and removed the damaged post and cables.

Police diverted the traffic in alternative routes. Vehicle movement resumed after two hours.
