Ahead of the movement of Lord Kallazhagar from Alwarpuram to Tamukkam in the early hours of Sunday (April 28), the city traffic police have announced certain changes here on Saturday.

As part of the Chithirai festival, the “Poo Pallakku” event would proceed from Alwarpuram Ramavilas Naidu Mandapam to Ramanathapuram Sethupathi Raja Mandapam in Tamukkam at around 2.30 a.m. on Sunday.

In view of the deity’s movement, vehicular traffic in the vicinity would be diverted as and when the police deemed it fit. Vehicles from Simmakkal towards New Natham Road and Mattuthavani Integrated Bus Stand shall be diverted from the intersection of M.M. Lodge and Palam Station Road through Narimedu. As the crowd would be moving on foot in and around Goripalayam-Tamukkam stretches, no vehicle would be permitted from Gandhi Museum towards Tamukkum and between IOC roundabout and Home Guard office on Gokhale Road.

Vehicles from IOC roundabout going towards Simakkal shall take KK Nagar arch, Aavin Junction, Kuruvikaran Salai, Kamarajar Salai and Old Kuyavarpalayam.

As and when roads are cleared after the deity passes on its way towards Alagarkoil, normal traffic pattern would be restored, a press release said.
