Various trade unions of Rodiar, Swadeshi and Sri Bharati mills on Thursday urged the territorial administration to withdraw the order on Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA).

V.S. Abishegam, trade union leader affiliated to CPI, who presided over the meeting of all trade unions, said that the decision taken by the Chief Secretary chaired meeting on 28.12.2012 for stopping the IDA till 31.12.2014 would badly hit the employees.

It was against the spirit, rights and welfare of workers and employees.

Hence, the Chief Minister N. Rangasamy should follow up the memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for demanding Rs. 500 crore to rehabilitate the mills. Besides withdrawing the IDA order, he should take immediate steps to reopen the mills in the interest of workers.
