District first in CBSE examination
Udhagamandalam: Gautam D. Shah of the JSS Public School, Ooty, topped the Nilgiris district in the 2009 Class X CBSE examinations, the results of which were announced on Tuesday. He secured 484 marks out of 500.
The student, according to his Principal Rennie J. Mendonce, was interested in becoming a mechanical engineer.
Pointing out that the topper had lived up to the expectations of all those connected with him, Mr. Mendonce told The Hindu here on Wednesday that the student was also good in many co-curricular activities.
The second place went to P.Vaishnavi of The Lawrence School, Lovedale.
She scored a total of 476 marks in the examination.
The school’s headmaster Y.H.V.S. Prasad said that she had done her alma mater proud by her achievement in the examination. Her performance will be an inspiration for others.
Manick Bir Singh of the Army School, Wellington came third with 474 marks.
