To grill youth who supplied explosives

Inspector General of Police (CB-CID) Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal is camping here to grill the youth, who allegedly supplied explosives to the suspected ultras arrested at Melapalayam recently, a reliable source said.

A special police team that monitors the subversive activities of the ultras nabbed five persons from Melapalayam and seized explosives from them on July 28. The police picked up on suspicion one Shahul Hameed and his associate Mohamed Thassim at Melapalayam, who reportedly told the interrogators that they, with the help of their friends Anwar Bismi, an auto driver, Noorul Ahmed and Mohamed Samsudeen, had stocked explosive materials and electric detonators in the house of Al Fahd, a widow living at Melapalayam.

After seizing 145 electric detonators and 17.50 kilogram of explosive materials from Al Fahd’s house, the police took all the five and the woman for interrogation. As the police found that Al Fahd had no role in this incident, they allowed her to go and arrested the others.

The special team’s attempts to nab Syed Ali of Veeravanallur, who reportedly supplied the explosives after buying them from one Asir of Melaputhukkudi through Prakash, also from Melaputhukkudi, went in vain. Since the court has sent Asir and Prakash to police custody now, Mr.Aggarwal is camping here to grill the duo to ascertain the exact quantity of explosives supplied to the suspected ultras.
