The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has received a number of letters of grievances from consumers on issues like incorrect billing, delay in giving new service connection, defective metres, and erratic supply of power etc., but the TNERC is not the right forum to deal with such matters.

Hence, power consumers should send complaints to their respective Consumers Grievance Redressal Forums (CGRF), said Superintending Engineer (Distribution) S. Pearl Mettilda.

In a press release issued here, she said that if the complainant was not satisfied with the decision of the forum or if the complainant had not received any reply within two months from the date of filing the complaint, he or she could appeal to the Electricity Ombudsman situated in the office of Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission in Chennai.

Moreover, details of Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum are available in the white metre cards as well as the website of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation and the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission, said the Superintending Engineer of the district unit of Tangedco.
