Tiruchi district will have 23 check dams soon.

According to a release from the agricultural engineering department, the objective of the scheme to improve groundwater is to conserve rain water and thus increase the groundwater table. Under this scheme, 23 check dams would be constructed at a cost of about Rs.1.44 crore, three percolation pounds at Rs.16.5 lakh, and two community wells would be sunk at Rs.4.5 lakh. The funds for the projects have been allotted and preliminary works are going on. Under the CM’s special programme for delta districts, 50 per cent subsidy would be extended for tilling.
