With Navarathiri festival season coming to an end, on Monday, many children were admitted to schools in kindergarten classes, while some began their fine arts course marking the Vijyadasami celebrations.

Parents who brought their kids to schools, made them to write letters on a platters filled with rice.

The Maha Saraswathi temple situated at Koothanur, 25 kms from Tiruvarur town was a hub of activity on Monday. The lone temple for Goddess Saraswathi in the state attracted hundreds of devotees’.

They offered prayers to the Goddess on Saraswathi Puja and on Vijayadasami. Later, the temple priest initiated tiny-tots into learning.

According to legend the Goddess Saraswathi blessed Tamil Poet Ottakoothar.

In Thanjavur, many schools admitted new wards.
