: Expressing dismay over the 14-hour power shutdown, Tiruchi District Micro Entrepreneurs’ Association (TIMEA)has sought the support of the district administration to tide over the situation by prevailing upon bankers to show consideration in recovering bank loans.

According to Arockiasamy, TIMEA president, at a time when acute power shortage due to shutdown for 14 hours has crippled the functioning of several thousands of micro enterprises in the district rendering them helpless even to pay salaries to workers, entrepreneurs were under severe pressure from banks to repay their dues.

Entrepreneurs were not in a position to run the industries with diesel generators.

The predicament of entrepreneurs has been precipitated by harsh approach of banks. Till the time power shortage eases, micro units must be given a moratorium for repayment of bank dues, Mr. Arockiasamy emphasised.
