Two students ended their lives in the city by consuming poison.

Raghavendra, an M.Sc. student, ended his life after being allegedly humiliated by the family of a girl whom he was badgering with proposals, Rajanakunte police said.

Raghavendra was harassing the girl, from Tippuru village, and she told her family about it.

Her family held several meetings with him to discourage him from harassing her but he continued to do so, forcing the family to report the matter to the police.

On Wednesday, during another round of mediation, tempers were frayed and the girl’s family rained blows on him with their slippers.

Soon after this, Raghavendra’s family reported him missing.

The police, who found the body next to his bike in a eucalyptus grove at Hittakallapura village of Doddaballapur on Thursday, said he had consumed insecticide. The Rajanukuntte police have registered a case and are investigating.

Law student

T. Manjula (24), a first year law student in BMS College, died in Narayana Hrudayalaya where she had been admitted after she consumed poison.

Hebbagodi police said Manjula was involved with her classmate, Mahendra Kumar. His parents, who came to know about their relationship, called her to their home for a talk. She did so on the morning of February 25 and reportedly stormed out of the house after a while.

She later allegedly consumed poison and was found in a semi-conscious state by Mahindra Kumar, who rushed her to hospital.

Manjula’s mother Siddalingamma filed a complaint with the Hebbagodi police saying Mahindra Kumar and his family were responsible for her death. Hebbagodi police are investigating.
