To be held from March 5 to 7 under National Rural Health Mission
KARAIKAL: A three-day mega health mela is scheduled to be held at the upgraded Primary Health Centre at Nedungadu from March 5 to 7. The health mela conceived as a component of the National Rural Health Mission (NHRM) would be jointly organised by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Puducherry and the District Health Mission, Karaikal.
The mela envisages participation from over 25 to 30 specialists and surgeons in the fields of general medicine, ophthalmology, dermatology, oncology, maternity care, Tuberculosis and bone care.
A separate slot for neurological, intestinal and kidney disorders, cardiac and oncological care would be available on March 5. Similarly, paediatric care would be provided on March 6.
Additionally, ophthalmologists from JIPMER, Puducherry, would be present at the mela. A separate slot for Government servants to avail medical consultancy would be arranged on Saturday (March 6).
The health mela also envisages exhibits on Ayurveda, Siddha, Homeopathy, Anganwadis and nutritional care as a component of the Mela.
Medical care and consultancy, blood and lab tests along with medicines would be done free of cost. The visiting hours would be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. N.Vasantha Kumar, Collector and Chairperson of the District Health Mission, has requested the people of Karaikal to avail the opportunity.
