Three transgenders who tried to rob a lorry driver were arrested on Thursday.

Anbu, Gayathri and Kavitha, standing on Chennai-Theni highways at Senkurichi near Ulundurpet in the early hours on Thursday, accosted lorry driver Muthuselvan of Kayalpattinam, who was driving that way.

When he stopped the vehicle, they surrounded him and forced him to part with Rs. 7,500 he was carrying. Muthuselvan managed to escape and reported the matter to the Highway Patrol personnel, who where on the beat.

They rounded up the transgenders and handed them over to the Thirunavalur police.

A case has been booked.
