CHENNAI: Thee persons were killed in accidents reported from various parts of the city on Tuesday and WednesdayAccording to the police, 26-year-old V. Karthikeyan, a marketing officer from Kancheepuram, fell from his motorcycle on the New Avadi Road after he applied the brakes abruptlyand was killed on the spot. Casual labourer Selvam, 21, succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital, after his motorcycle hit an electricity post in Ambattur Estate Road, in front of DAV Senior Secondary School around 5 p.m.

The police said the victim was from West Mogappair Both the victims were not wearing helmets, said the police.

On Wednesday morning, a load auto rickshaw on Manapakkam High Road knocked down Babu from Manapakkam fatally. Police have arrested the auto rickshaw driver Ashok.

Two arrested for duping

The Central Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested two persons on charges of cheating and duping people money to the tune of Rs.7 lakh. According to the police, Krishnaveni from Jafferkhanpet, who was running a chit fund, absconding since 2005, was arrested from her residence along with her son, Narasimhan. Rajamma, the complainant said she never got back the Rs. 25,000 that she had paid to Krishnaveni.

The accused, who kept eluding the police, was finally arrested from her residence. Her son Narasimhan was also arrested.
