CHENNAI: Three persons were arrested for transporting a huge consignment of lottery tickets from Howrah to Chennai by train on Tuesday.

According to the Railway Police, a special team checked parcels that arrived by the Howrah-Chennai Central Coromandel Express on Monday and found 22.50 lakh lottery tickets of Arunachal Pradesh and 6,000 lottery tickets of Bhutan. Another consignment containing six lakh lottery tickets of Arunachal Pradesh and 6,000 lottery tickets of Bhutan were seized from the Howrah Mail that arrived at the Chennai Central Station on Tuesday. The total worth of the seizures was put at Rs.66 lakh.

N. Sasikumar alias Sasi (31), M. Ramesh (30) of Arakkonam and A. Krishnamoorthy (60) of Pulianthope were arrested, police added.
