Three child labourers were rescued during a surprise raid conducted by officials in and around Kaveripattinam town in Krishnagiri recently. Officials went round the Kosemedu, Salem Main Road, Panneerselvam Street, Therpati and rescued three children working in small industries.

The children rescued were Sasi (14), Sabari (14) and Afrose (13). They were admitted in nearby special schools run by the National Child Labour Project (NCLP) under the orders of the District Collector C.N. Maheshwaran, a release said. Kumudavalli, Assistant Labour Inspector (Dharmapuri), Dr. Harriram, Chief Medical Officer, Kaveripattinam Government Hospital, Ms. Priya and Mr. Balachandran, Field Officer, were the officials who conducted the raid.
