A section of the people at Perumal Kovilpatti village near here on Saturday announced that they would boycott Assembly elections, condemning the lack of basic amenities and total neglect of their village by both the political parties as well as government officials.

No one had come forward to settle their life-long grievances and provide even basic amenities to their village.

The village was neglected by the officials. Even the police did not provide security to life and property.

One of the villagers had been brutally killed in broad day light and no one was arrested even after a year. Even as villagers identified the persons behind the murder, the police had not taken action, they alleged. Drainage was flowing in the middle of road and good facilities were a distant dream.

Moreover, constructing a compound wall for the village temple and performing ‘kumbhabishekam' was also prevented by officials as well as political parties. They raised black flags in front of every house in the village.
