Nagercoil: Thousands of people from different parts of the district and the neighbouring Kerala witnessed the car festival of the Sthanumalayan temple at Suchindrum on Wednesday.

Apart from the four car streets of Suchindrum, the entire stretch of 3 km from Kottar to Suchindrum (all along the way), and the whole area were crowded with people.

Earlier, special poojas were offered to ‘thirumoorthikal’ — Bramha, Siva and Vishnu.

Later the deities were mounted on the highly decorated cars, which were pulled by the devotees.

Tourism Minister N. Suresh Rajan, Collector, Rajendra Ratnoo, Joint Commissioner of HR&CE, Dhanabal and others attended the car festival. Providing annadhanam, distributing butter milk, offering water marked the the car festival.

Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Madurai) division operated more than 100 special buses from various destinations to the temple.

The district administration made all facilities for the devotees.
