CHENNAI: Police have recovered the car, television set and some foreign currency allegedly stolen from the house of Congress MLA Hassan Ali in Nungambakkam on May 25. A special team formed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Triplicane) T.S. Anbu followed specific clues and confirmed that the theft was committed by Yesudas (28) of Kanyakumari district, a former employee of the MLA, and his associate Veera alias Palani (23) of Manali.

The team apprehended Veera early on Friday when he was trying to escape to a nearby town. Having learnt that police were looking form him, Yesudas surrendered in a Tiruvallur court on Thursday. The stolen property, including a Maruti Swift car, was recovered based on the information given by Veera, the sources said.
