Large crowds descended on the Horticultural Producers Co-operative Marketing and Processing Society (HOPCOMS) outlet at Hudson Circle on the opening day of the Grape Mela here on Wednesday.
The hugely popular annual event, organised by HOPCOMS, is aimed at bringing quality grapes at discounted prices to consumers. The mela is being held at the HOPCOMS' cold storage at Hudson Circle as well as in all its 300-plus outlets across the city.
Some of the grape varieties available are Thomson Seedless, Sonaka, Sharad, Flame Seedless, Manik Chaman, Red Globe and Bangalore Blue. The grapes have been procured directly from growers in Bijapur, Bagalkot, Koppal, Kolar and Bangalore Rural districts. They will be sold in 2 kg cartons at a discount of up to 10 per cent.
