The Hindu Young World Painting contest tomorrow

The regional final of the 20{+t}{+h}edition of The Hindu Young World Painting Competition 2011 for Coimbatore will be held on November 27 (Sunday) at Thiruchitrambalam Auditorium in Avinashilingam University in Coimbatore.

Overwhelming response

After the grand success of The Hindu Young World Quiz held earlier in October, The Hindu Young World Painting Competition 2011, too, is getting overwhelming response from students.

Entries have been flooding The Hindu office in Coimbatore over the past weeks. The competition is being held in two categories - junior (class 4 to 7) and senior (class 8 to 10).

The selected entries have been sent intimation letters asking them to attend the final.

The contestants should bring the intimation letters on the day of competition, which will start at 9 a.m., when they will be given the topics/themes for the contest.


The prizes for the winners will be distributed on the same afternoon at the venue. Apart from the first, second and third prizes, there will be consolation prizes, too.

Other finalists will be given participation certificates. V.T. Kandasamy, Conservator of Forest, will be the chief guest and distribute the prizes.

The competition is being held in 14 other centres -

Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Chennai, Madurai, Tiruchi, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Hubli, Bangalore, Mangalore, Mysore and Delhi.

MIOT Hospitals (CHIME) is the title sponsor for the contest. Amrutanjan Relief Cough and Cold is the national sponsor.

The regional sponsor is Sri Sakthi Institute of Engineering Technology, Coimbatore. The event is an initiative of The Hindu – Newspaper in Education (NIE).
