The Hindu Young World Painting Competition 2013’s grand finale for the Coimbatore region will be held at Avinashilingam University here on February 10 (Sunday).

The response from students, as was the case last year, has been overwhelming with a flood of entries for the two categories of juniors (Standards IV to VII) and seniors (Standards VIII to X).

While the topic for juniors were ‘My family and my house’, ‘My pet(s)’, ‘Save our environment’ and ‘My street on a rainy day’, the seniors dealt with ‘India at 2025’, ‘Bird watch’, ‘Train journey’ and ‘Carnival’.

Intimation letters have been sent to the schools of artists whose work has been short-listed.

Contestants should bring the letters to the finals, which will commence at 9 a.m.

The topic would be announced on that day.

Besides prizes for the top three in each category, consolation prizes would also be given. All finalists would get participation certificates from the chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony K. Ramasamy, Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore.

While a total of 1,120 entries were received, for the juniors (744) and seniors category (376), 200 entries were short-listed in each of them.
