The Hindu has retained its position as the No.1 daily in Madurai with a huge lead over competing newspapers, as the just released Indian Readership Survey (IRS) figures for the second quarter of 2012 show. With a readership of 51,000, its readership is three times that of the cumulative figures of competing English language newspapers in the region.

The Hindu has shown a growth of 3.7 per cent in the rest of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, adding over 39,000 readers over the corresponding period last year. This proves the continued preference for the daily in the region.

Across India, The Hindu gained 1,31,000 readers.

This constitutes a growth of 6.3 per cent in national readership as compared to the corresponding quarter last year.

The publication’s current Average Issue Readership (AIR) is 22.08 lakh.

The Hindu retains its position as the most-read English daily in South India and the third largest English newspaper nationally.

The Hindu , with its 134-year track record of editorial and technical excellence and commitment to providing news in a credible and an interesting and engaging manner, has reinforced its supremacy as South India’s most preferred English daily.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our readers for their constant support and the trust they place in us.
