Education and career counselling is coming as a stimulus package for the students who are pondering over making the right choice this admission season in Salem.

The right answer to their career queries and course choices will come straight from experts in the field of higher education at The Hindu Education Plus Career Guidance Session 2009, taking place on May 30 at Sri Rathnavel Gounder Kalyana Mandapam, Saradha College Road in Salem. The timings are 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. and the entry is free.

Students waiting for admission after their Plus-Two results, who will soon start applying for colleges, would stand to benefit immensely from the fair.

The right course in the context of recession, wise selection of engineering branch, advice on biotechnology, medical courses and nursing, guidance on pursuing an undergraduate course in basic science and the prospects of a management degree will be among the topics that will be handled by consultants during the programme.

The highlights of the event are:

C. Gopinath, television anchor, will address students on the growing scope for visual communication courses and potential in visual media and give a pep-talk to the students.


Students and parents will get a clear perspective on the overall engineering education and opportunities when they listen to career guidance expert Jayaprakash Gandhi.

Psychometric test will be held for students to measure their mental attributes. Bodhi, an organisation involved in career assessment, will conduct a free personality profiling for the first 250 students who register on their website ( Information on career, course and college choice will be provided to the students. He will also provide tips to students on personality development.
