: The Panguni car festival was celebrated at Shenbagavalli Amman Temple with religious fervour at Kovilpatti in the district on Saturday.

Scores of devotees thronged the temple and offered prayers. The festival commenced on April 5 with the holy flag-hoisting amidst devotees.

High Court Judge K. Venkatraman along with Superintendent of Police J. Rajendran, the temple administrators and the public drew the car.

M. Paramasivam, committee member, Kovilpatti, said Theerthavari, one of the events, would be organised in the temple on Sunday and prasadham offered to devotees throughout the day. Theppa Thiruvizha is slated to be held on Monday.

Police offered drinking water, buttermilk, fruits and sweets to the devotees.
