The Chennai – Guruvayoor Express Train suffered a detention of about an hour at Tirunelveli Railway Junction on Wednesday due to a technical snag in the engine.

Sources in Tirunelveli Railway Junction said the Guruvayoor Express Train, which should have reached Tirunelveli at 7.40 a.m., arrived here only by 8.20 a.m.

When it was about leave Tirunelveli Railway Junction at 8.30 a.m., the engine developed a technical snag.

Though the drivers and the technical personnel at Tirunelveli Railway Junction tried their best to rectify the problem, it did not yield any positive result.

Alternative engine

The express train could resume its journey only after an alternative engine was brought from Vaanchi Maniyachi Junction at 9.15 a.m., much to the agony of the passengers.
