Special teams to monitor implementation of model code of conduct for each of the seven Assembly constituencies in the district have been formed, Collector V.K. Shanmugam said.

In a statement, he said the teams would maintain a shadow register to record the expenditure of each candidate. The team would consist an official and an assistant. It would have a ready reckoner to verify the details of expenditure submitted by the candidates. If there was any difference in the accounts submitted by the candidate and the details in the ready reckoner, the difference would be added to the candidates' account.

Similarly, a flying squad for each constituency has been formed. It comprises three to four armed policemen, a vehicle, a cell phone and a video recording team. The team would monitor whether money or liquor or any other gifts were distributed to the voters. The team would complain about such incidents, if any, to the Election Commission with evidence.

The Collector asked the zonal officers for election duty to be very cautious and act impartially in monitoring the model code of conduct, at a training programmed conducted here. The District Revenue Officer, C. A. Raman and Personal Assistant (Elections) to the Collector, Manivannan, were among those who were present.
