Team to treat burns on standby

A team to treat victims of accidents caused by fireworks will be kept ready round-the-clock at Meenakshi Mission Hospital here.

In a press release, V. N. Rajasekaran, Medical Director of the hospital, appealed to the people to take all precautions while handling fireworks. Children should not carry crackers in their pockets while lighting one. They should wear cotton clothes, use footwear and keep a safe distance from the crackers. A bucket of water should be kept ready to be used in an emergency and another bucket for dipping used sparklers. The public should not hinder movement of traffic during Deepavali celebration and use aerial fireworks only in open space. The following numbers can be called in an emergency: 0452 – 4263000.
