KRISHNAGIRI: Women teachers should sensitise the girl students between the ages of 10 to 15 about the recurring monthly period in them and use of sanitary napkins.
The teachers should create awareness on personal hygiene among girl students, Collector V.K. Shanmugam said here on Tuesday.
Mr. Shanmugam visited the training programme organised for the teachers on how to produce low-cost napkins at the Veppanahalli Block resource centres.
It is the duty of the teachers to alley fears about the physiological changes of every girl child during the teen age and mentally prepare them for personal hygiene and usage of napkins.
The Collector said that 174 teachers from 87 model block resource centres (BRCs) were give training in making napkins. Napkins would be distributed free of cost to the students studying in Standard VII and VIII from 87 model BRCs.
Teachers from Krishnagiri, Hosur, Thaly, Bargur, Kaveripattinam, Uthangarai and Mathur Unions were trained in Kaveripattinam.
