Steps on to computerise AEO offices in districts
MADURAI: Provident Fund details of government school teachers in the State will be available on website from June 10 as part of e-governance initiatives, thanks to Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).
The exercise will first cover about 1.25 lakh elementary education teachers who can access their PF details and know the position in individual accounts, according to M. P. Vijayakumar, State Project Director, SSA.
Talking to The Hindu here on Friday, he said that provident fund contribution was a major component in teachers’ service registers and so the Department of Elementary Education undertook this initiative for the convenience of government/aided school teachers.

“Sometimes, when a teacher wants to know about his or her PF status to apply for a loan, the department staff in districts may not be able to provide all information in time. So, we have collected particulars from the Government Data Centre in Chennai and put them on the website,” Mr. Vijayakumar, who is also the Director of Elementary Education (in-charge), said.
Teachers could log into the website and enter their date of birth/Teachers Provident Fund account number to know the details they want, he said.
If they noticed any mistake in their account, it could be brought to the notice of the Directorate for rectifying them.
Mr. Vijayakumar was in the city in connection with on-the-spot clearing of pending files related to elementary schools/ teachers belonging to Madurai, Theni and Virudhunagar districts.
According to Mr. Vijayakumar, the Directorate of Elementary Education has been taking swift steps to computerise the functioning of offices of Assistant Educational Officers (AEOs) in districts.
“Already 300 AEO offices have been provided with computers and 100 more will receive them shortly,” he said.
