TIRUNELVELI: Members of Tamil Nadu Primary School Teachers’ Association staged a demonstration here on Tuesday pressing various demands, mainly against the activity-based learning system.

The protestors said the newly-introduced activity-based learning system and the subsequent “unnecessary trainings” being given to teachers for this “controversial learning system”, should be put on hold as long as uniform syllabus is introduced.

The teacher–student ratio at the primary level should be fixed as 1:10 and all programmes, including Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), should be brought under the Department of Education.
