Members of the district wing of Tamil Nadu Primary School Teachers Association staged a dharna in front of Model Higher Secondary School here on Thursday demanding transparency in transfer of panchayat union school teachers.

They alleged that there was no transparency in declaring the vacant posts of teachers in primary schools defeating the very purpose of the counselling. K. Karuppiah, district secretary of the association, alleged that even the spouses of the ex-servicemen were denied their due priority in transfer despite the norms on priority for army personnel and ex-servicemen. They urged the education department officials to notify the vacant posts in the primary and middle schools in the panchayat unions before organising the programme.
