Taxi operators in Coimbatore have extended their support for the strike call given by trade unions.

According to a release from the Kovai Mavatta Tourist Taxi, Call Taxi, Tourist Van, Mini Goods Anaithu Thozhirsanga Kootu Nadavadikkai Kuzhu’, the members of the various associations will participate in the February 20, 21 strike to register their protest against the rise in prices of essential commodities, increase in prices of petrol, diesel, the annual increase in insurance premium, the law that says that only those who have completed Class X will get public badge and to demand Rs. 10,000 as the monthly minimum wages, a social security welfare board for unorganised labourers and a monthly pension of Rs. 2,000 for the unorganised labour.

It has also asked other members and associations to extend support for the 48-hour strike.
