The Chemical Industries Association has urged the government to constitute a task force for the promotion of chemical industries, which have remained a largely untapped sector in the State.
Association president P.K.N. Panicker stated in a press note that while it was gratifying that the government had signed a slew of MoUs with several companies, investment in chemical projects had been low key.
The inadequate progress of chemical industry remained a cause for concern and the current scenario too indicated that it had not been given the due attention at the policy-making level, Mr. Panicker said. The only significant new project under implementation was the Nagarjuna Oil Corporation in Cuddalore, which had been plagued by delays.
