With Vice-Chancellor of the National Law University, Odisha, Chandra Krishnamurthy, slated to take over as Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University soon, J.A.K. Tareen will step down from his post on February 1.

In his farewell message, Mr. Tareen has thanked all stake-holders who have offered support and provided an atmosphere to bring up the university to world class standards. In the past five years, the university has seen 300 per cent growth in all areas, with 22 new departments and 100 new programs. Over 18,000 students received their Masters and PhD degrees, with over 5,000 students from Puducherry.

Ms. Chandra was previously Vice-Chancellor of SNDT Women’s University.
