AIADMK stages demonstration in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin

TIRUNELVELI: Functionaries of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam staged a demonstration in front of the Corporation here on Monday.

They condemned the recent telephone tapping episode, involving the Chief Secretary and a top official of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption.

The protestors, led by the party’s legal wing secretary, P.H. Manoj Pandian, also demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary and the Home Secretary “for this disgraceful act that has undermined the trust the public had on the Department of Telecommunication”.

Coming down heavily on the State Government, Mr. Manoj Pandian said that even the Chief Secretary of the State could not maintain the secrecy of his telephonic conversation of in the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam regime, “which never trusted the officials, particularly the top brass”.

Asserting that bugging of telephonic conversations was against the Constitution, he said the State Government was attempting to bury the entire issue.

Over 300 functionaries, including 50 women, participated in the demonstration.

Tuticorin

Members of AIADMK staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate here on Monday.

They demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister over the telephone tapping incident.

Former Minister and Tiruchendur MLA Anitha Radhakrishnan, State joint secretary of MGR Youth Wing Saravana Perumal, president of District Panchayat N. Chinnadurai, advocate U.S. Sekhar, former MLA Daniel Raj, and several others took part in the agitation.
